Ben left for Boulder on Saturday, and in July we're scheduled to spend a week in Toronto, so I've got travel on the brain. I rediscovered Flight 001 recently and it'll be tough not to spend all my money before I even leave the country.

hey, what does ben think of brian greene? i have a book of his here from several years back that i have never read.
ben can speak for himself, but what he's told me is that brian greene is a good public-academic interpreter (for instance, he hosted a pbs series based on his book about string theory, The Elegant Universe (i think that's the book we got in that cosmology class?), I watched and was helpful in understanding what ben does all day). he also publishes serious papers, which are nothing to sneeze at. but, he spends so much time being the shmoozy columbia man that he doesn't have a chance to be the heavy hitter he could be.
the pbs series is on nova tonight! so watch and enjoy all the blue-screen effects...
